In collaboration with an art-collecting executive, ALAO transformed two adjacent apartments near Central Park into an elegant two-bedroom, two-bath home. Drawing from East Asian and Scandinavian modernism and inspired by New York’s vibrant art scene, the design merges functionality with aesthetics.
Reeded-glass pocket doors open from the gallery and sitting room, seamlessly leading guests to an inviting eat-in kitchen. An oak sliding screen reveals the kitchen when needed, then tucks away the clutter so the host can focus on what matters most—entertaining and enjoying the moment. Oversized doors and an interior window invite natural light from three exposed sides to flood the space. In the primary bathroom, a custom soaking tub enhances the sense of tranquility, while curved stone countertops in the kitchen align with the natural flow of movement. Custom millwork was designed to integrate harmoniously with the apartment's layout, complementing the art gallery-like ambiance. This thoughtfully curated space allows the client to showcase their art collection and high-end designer furniture, blending lifestyle and luxury in a uniquely personal way.
The project is a stunning balance of form, function, and artistry—perfectly suited for both daily living and elegant entertaining.
