The project is a gut renovation of an almost century old cottage in Washington Heights for a couple who are aging in place in the neighborhood of their youth and where they raised their family. The cottage is North facing with low ceilings. The goal of the project was to create a continuous interior flow of spaces and amplify light as it comes into the house. The use of reflective natural surfaces was key to the design. The main level is open plan but interrupted by a fireplace in the middle room to create a partial partition between living space and dining area.

The floor above has a leisure and writing room facing the George Washington Bridge for the wife; and the bottom floor has a leisure room filled with state of the art audio equipment and a bar for the husband.
